Adama Traore arrives for medical ahead of Barcelona move as Tottenham lick wounds after transfer failure

Adama Traore is undergoing a medical at Barcelona before finalising a loan transfer from Wolves.

After turning down Tottenham’s approach, the Spanish winger became a surprise target for his former team and a quickfire deal was formulated.

The LaLiga giants hold a purchase option worth around £30million should he impress at the Camp Nou in the second half of the campaign.

On Friday afternoon, Traore was spotted entering Barcelona’s training ground for his medical.

Despite facing a financial crisis, the Blaugrana have operated swiftly in the January window with Ferran Torres also arriving and Dani Alves registered after a November return to the club. Erling Haaland is rumoured to be a genuine target for the summer.

Traore’s switch marks another market blow for Tottenham, who had been in talks with Wolves over a deal worth £20m.

Antonio Conte is intent on revamping his squad this month, while also allowing the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli to leave. Traore had been eyed as a new right wing-back, a position the player is said to have been unsure about.

Luis Diaz was another key target for Spurs but the Porto forward now looks set to snub them too, in favour of a move to Liverpool. However, the club have agreed a six-figure fee for non-league striker Ollie Tanner.
