Adam Thomas has said the Waterloo Road reboot will be the “best series yet” when it returns later this year.
The BBC is bringing back the cult school drama six years after it was axed.
Thomas gushed about the upcoming series in which he reprises his role as original bad boy Donte Charles.
Speaking to the Standard during a break from filming, he said: “It’s going to be the best series yet. It has been great fun, really good and it’s exciting to get back doing what I love and seeing some new cast and old cast as well.
“It has taken me back down memory lane a little bit.”
Thomas left the series in 2009 along with his onscreen wife Chlo, played by Katie Griffiths, and their daughter Izzy.
Griffiths is also returning to the small screen.
Their onscreen daughter Izzy will now be played by Thomas’ real-life niece Scarlett Thomas.
This will mark the first major TV role for the 13-year-old who is the daughter of Coronation Street stars Ryan Thomas and Tina O’Brien.
Thomas celebrated filming their first scene together by sharing a selfie of them on set.
He captioned the photo: “Am just in awe of this girl, could watch her all day every day! Can not wait for you guys to see her in action!”
He has been working with his family a lot lately as he has also teamed up with his brother for a new campaign with Oreo cookies.
As part of the campaign, which celebrates and debates the different ways people enjoy eating the iconic black and white cookie, a study was conducted which found 63 per cent of 2,000 surveyed adults love to experiment with unusual food pairings.
When asked what the strangest combination they had tried and surprisingly enjoyed, they said Oreos with sour cream and chive which they concluded “wasn’t bad”.
They claim that they now have a lifetime supply or Oreos so will have plenty of opportunities to experiement further.
