Adam Strachan tributes paid as former Partick Thistle star passes away at 35

Tributes have been paid to former Partick Thistle player Adam Strachan after it was announced he has passed away at the age of 35.

The former midfielder burst onto the scene at the Jags and was named man of the match on his SPL debut against Livingston, aged just 16. He made over 70 appearances at Firhill before a move to Ross County in 2008, helping the current Premiership side rise up the football ranks. Strachan then turned out for Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, Clyde, Stenhousemuir and Arbroath before taking on junior football.

A three-year spell at Lowland League club East Kilbride was also had alongside time at BSC Glasgow. Strachan had injury issues to contend with in his career and had issues of the park but is still fondly remembered as an excellent technical player. Former EK teammate Sean Winter said: "Can not believe the news I am hearing about Adam Strachan.

"The guy was seriously misunderstood and one of the best players I ever played with."

Clyde said in a statement: "All at Clyde were saddened to learn of the passing of former Clyde captain Adam Strachan yesterday, aged just 35. The thoughts and condolences are with Adam’s family and friends at this time."

Another former teammate, Thomas Scobbie, posted on Twitter: "Managed to have a few camps with Adam Strachan with the Scotland U19/21s.

"Guy had massive talent but an even bigger, infectious personality. Thoughts and prayers go out to Adams family and friend at this difficult time."

Fans have also been left devastated, one saying 'The boy had the world at his feet. May your soul find peace.' and another said 'life is too short. Cherish every moment.'
