After a promising first round at the PGA Championship, Australian Adam Scott has slipped way back into the pack after a wayward second at Oak Hill.
American Scottie Scheffler and Canada's Corey Conners climbed into the lead at 5-under, with both following up opening rounds of 67 with 68s in the second, with Scott now seven shots behind.
Norway's Viktor Hovland joined them in a tie for top spot late on Friday (local time) with a birdie on the last.
A double bogey on the last was Scott's only blemish from the opening day, but on day two he carried on in a fashion more closely resembling that final hole than the impressive 17 that preceded it.
Scott carded another double on the seventh, and bogeys on six, eight, 13 and 16, with a couple of birdies on 14 and 15 keeping him from total disaster.
Still, the 4-over-par 74 dropped him to 2-over for the tournament and not only struggling to keep in touch with the leaders, but no longer even the best of the Australians.
After a 3-over opening round, 24-year-old Min Woo Lee is leading the pack of Aussies, sitting in a tie for 10th at even par.
He shot out of the gates with four birdies on his first five holes, bogeyed six and cancelled that out with another birdie on seven.
Another bogey on 15 left him 3-under for the day.
Cam Davis also leapfrogged Scott by one stroke after a chaotic round on the challenging course in upstate New York, hitting par on eight of 18 holes, finishing at 1-over after five birdies and five bogeys equalled an even-par 70.
Lucas Herbert and Cameron Smith are tied for 48th at 4-over after second rounds of 69 and 72 respectively, while 2015 PGA winner Jason Day (+8) and David Micheluzzi (+9), in his first major, missed the 5-over-par cut.
