Adam Lallana sends Mohamed Salah contract message as Liverpool negotiations continue

Adam Lallana is hopeful his former club Liverpool can reach an agreement with 'world class' Mohamed Salah to extend his contract at Anfield.

The Egyptian's current deal expires in 2023 and he is yet to put pen to paper on an extension, despite months of negotiations.

Currently away at AFCON, the Merseyside club are without the league's top goal scorer and as things stand, could soon be without him for good.

Lallana hopes that isn't the case and insists Liverpool will be 'desperate to keep him' for another few years.

"Mo is a world class player, not just a world class player but a world class human," the Brighton midfielder told Sky Sports.

"I was fortunate enough to play with him for three or for years. He's very humble with the right amount of confidence and arrogance.

"His form over the last few years, the numbers he's got is there for everyone to see so of course Liverpool are going to be desperate to keep him.

"Keep him for another three, four years maybe and I hope they can come to an agreement."

Lallana himself departed Liverpool on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract in July 2020.

He's now made almost 50 appearances for Brighton and Hove Albion with one goal and two assists in that time.

The likes of Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum have also seen out their contracts at Liverpool in recent years and left for nothing, a situation the club will hope to avoid with Salah.

Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are also in the final 18 months of their deals and a decision on their futures will need to be made soon.
