Adam Idah to Celtic latest as striker returns to Norwich squad after AWOL incident

Adam Idah has returned to the Norwich City squad in pre-season as speculation continues over a transfer switch to Celtic.

The striker, 23, was disciplined by the English Championship squad after going AWOL ahead of their pre-season trip to Austria.

Idah missed a club flight with his team-mates but then made his way to the training camp independently.

Manager Johannes Hoff Thorup revealed Idah was left out for a friendly against Hoffenheim as a consequence of his actions.

But the Norwich boss insisted Idah would return to the fold after apologising for the incident.

Now, Idah is back in the squad for Norwich as they face St Pauli this afternoon. The striker is listed among the substitutes for his club.

Thorup had also conceded speculation over a return to Celtic may have impacted Idah's actions in pre-season.

He said: “Of course, it'd be fair to say because he is a young boy. And this is maybe the first time in his career where there is so much attention on him and so many media stories and so on,

“I can completely understand that can be difficult for a football player to handle.

"So it will take some more conversations with him. And we will of course integrate him again and everyone will be there to support him.

“But it's also important for us to make it very, very clear that we have our rules internally. If you step out of that and do something that is not aligned with that then of course you cannot play with the rest of the group.

"But he is a good boy and I don't think it was on purpose. It was just too much going on.”

Brendan Rodgers said of a transfer move for Idah to return to Celtic: "Well, Adam’s a Norwich player.

"He did fantastic with us last season and we’ll just see what happens over the coming weeks."
