Adam Forshaw recognises gulf in class after Liverpool defeat but hails 'unbelievable’ Leeds United fans

Adam Forshaw admits that Leeds are nowhere near the level of Liverpool after last night’s embarrassing 6-0 loss at Anfield.

The Whites were demolished from start to finish as Jurgen Klopp’s men moved to within three points of league leaders Man City.

Defeat for Marcelo Bielsa’s strugglers heightened fears of relegation around Elland Road, with Leeds just three points off the bottom three despite playing two games more than 18th-placed Burnley.

The two clubs are operating at opposite ends of the table and Forshaw - who was born and raised in Liverpool - believes that was clear to see last night.

“It was two different teams in class,” Forshaw told Leeds' media channel.

“We started ok and then gave (away) some sloppy goals. There is no hiding from it, you can't analyse it too much now but we will break it down tomorrow.

“It's hard not to let it affect you, I won’t lie.

“We’ve got an important game on Saturday so we've got to move on quickly as well at the same time.”

The 30-year-old heaped praise on the dedicated Leeds fans that made the 150-mile round trip to watch their side succumb to another humiliating away defeat.

Virgil van Dijk’s 93rd-minute header means Leeds have now conceded 56 league goals this season - the most in the division.

Forshaw acknowledged the Leeds faithful who were in attendance at Anfield.

“The positive is how unbelievable the fans were again,” he added.

“They never stop, they make us proud and I think that's probably one thing we can take from tonight.

“They’re always there for us, the fans are unbelievable.

“They will be there again on Saturday, pushing us on.”
