Michael Owen made a surprise appearance on Adam Collard's Instagram after the Love Island bombshell made a play for the football star's daughter Gemma on the ITV show.
Newcastle personal trainer Adam has stunned this year's Islanders with his history-making return to the villa, four years after stirring up some serious drama and even prompting a response from charity Women's Aid over some of his behaviour on the programme.
The now 26-year-old's shock return to Love Island was confirmed at the end of Sunday night's episode, when narrator Iain Stirling whispered, in a rather menacing manner: "Guess...who's...back." Before he'd even walked through the door of the villa, Adam issued a threat to the boys, warning them to "watch out," and adding that he wasn't afraid to break up any of the couples in there.
The first girl to catch Adam's eye was Paige, with the Welsh paramedic, appearing to be very smitten by him as she hinted that she could be swayed to stray from Jacques, after he kissed one of the new girls who entered as part of the Casa Amor. After charming Paige, Adam switched his attentions to Gemma, despite her previously telling him things were 'going strong' between her and Luca.
At the end of their conversation, Adam admitted to Gemma that she and Paige were his number one choices "on looks," as Love Island fans online were torn on how they felt on a romance between Adam and Michael Owen's 19-year-old daughter.
Whoever is running Adam's Instagram while he is in the villa wasted no time on seizing the opportunity to reference a potential spark between Adam and Gemma, and wind up the ex England striker, photoshopping Adam's face onto Alan Shearer's, in a picture of a goal celebration during Owen's time at Newcastle United, which saw Shearer put his arm around his teammate.
Speculating how things might go, one viewer took to Twitter to post: "I think Adam is going for Gemma, that’ll be the biggest upset and the hardest nut to crack. The biggest challenge for him and I think he’s all about the challenge. Paige will literally throw herself at him having seen their interactions already, she’s eating his b/s already."
