Adam Collard's Newcastle ex speaks out over Love Island relationship claims

Adam Collard's Newcastle ex girlfriend Josie Baxter has posted a statement on Instagram saying she still has a 'strong friendship' with him after it was claimed they were house hunting months before he went back on Love Island.

Having caused a real stir on the ITV dating show four years ago, Adam shocked everyone by making Love Island history by returning to the villa as a bombshell at the start of this week. Bosses kept Adam's arrival under wraps, meaning his appearance came as a huge shock to fans and the rest of the Islanders.

And it was during an early conversation with one of the Love Island girls, that the now 26-year-old revealed he wasn't long out of a relationship, also admitting to having 'commitment' issues. He said: "I only really got out of a relationship like two months ago, just over that, but I sat on it for a while. I seem to get a nosebleed at like 18 months."

After Adam's confession it's been reported that he and Josie, who shared dogs Storm and Stella. together, were 'house hunting' just months before his Love Island comeback, with a source telling The Sun: "As far as Josie was concerned they were serious, they were looking to buy a house together.

"It’s very awkward as they obviously both work together and so everyone at the gym knows what has been going on. Newcastle is a small place and people talk."

A source close to Adam has refuted the claims, saying Adam was "single," when Love Island made contact and now Josie has had her say on 'misleading stories,' confirming she still works with Adam at his gym Sculpt Fitness on the outskirts of Newcastle city centre.

I have so far chosen not to speak out about my current situation.

"It is a very sensitive subject to me and not something I ever wanted to deal with in the public eye.

"I still have a strong friendship with Adam and his family and we still are working together and will continue to do so."

She added: "Misleading stories are being written which isn't okay. Please respect that I don't want to speak of this matter again."
