Adam Chicksen spoke of the importance of grinding out results for a team vying for promotion after Notts County continued their unbeaten home start of the season against Altrincham.
County’s third goal of their 3-1 victory on Saturday was officially credited to Macaulay Langstaff to complete his second hat-trick of the season. It was also his 15th goal overall.
Chicksen claimed he got the final touch before the ball hit the net, but was happy to give up the goal to focus instead on the County performance as a whole as they moved up to second in the National League table ahead of Tuesday night's home clash with leaders Wrexham (7.45pm kick-off).

Luke Williams’ side have won four and drawn one of their five games at home this season, and wing-back Chicksen believes their ability to mix it with any team in the division at Meadow Lane is a vital trait.
He said: “It’s always nice to play here with how good the fans are, especially now we are starting to dominate teams when they come here. We do it for the majority of the game, and it’s enjoyable.
“We’ve just got to keep enjoying play together while utilising the support of the fans when they’re really behind us because it is a great feeling. When we don’t play well, we still run and still fight for the points because that’s what promotion-winning teams do.
“We’re very technical, and we’re good on the ball, but we try and run every minute of the game and cover every inch of the pitch just as much as the opposition will try to, and I think that has been the difference for us.
“It gives us confidence that even when we aren’t at our best, we can still create opportunities, score goals and get the win despite everything not going to plan.
“You can see that intensity from every man, so I wouldn’t like to play us at the moment, and I think that’s the same for all the teams we’re coming up against. [Wrexham on Tuesday] will be a great game, and bring it on because we’re in good spirits, and we will approach that game as we always do.”
