Adam Azim, with only ten professional fights under his belt, is aiming to become European champion. If victorious, he will be the first boxer to win an EBU title so early in his career and would only further cement his status as one of the most exciting young talents in boxing.
On the hunt for the title, Adam Azim,21 , from England will take on the reigning EBU European Super Lightweight Champion Franck Petitjean,35 ,from France in Wolverhampton on Saturday, November 18 2023.
“I am so excited for this fight – fighting for the EBU title in just my tenth fight is massive for me. I’m ready to put on a show and bring that belt home with me on November 18th,” said Adam Azim in media reports.
In just his eleventh professional fight, Azim(9-0, 6 KOs) is aiming for the European gold medal. If he wins, he will become the first person to win an EBU title while still only a few years out of his twenties, following in the footsteps of his often-cited inspiration, “Prince” Naseem Hamed. This will propel him into serious competition for major global titles.
In 2018, southpaw Franck Petitjean(24-6-3, 6 KOs) successfully transitioned to the European level for the first time as an EBU super-lightweight and went on to challenge for the IBO world championship after winning the French national championship and making three successful defenses.
In June of this year, Franck Petitjean won back the EBU title, and against Azim, he will mount his first defense of his second championship reign.
“I’ve always loved a challenge and the fact that I can take part in a major event abroad is very motivating. I’m looking forward to pushing Adam to the limit and, of course, returning to France victorious!” said Petitjean in media reports.
“Fighting in the UK is like a dream come true for me because boxing is so important here and we don’t have that so much in France. So I’m very happy. It’s a big fight with a new big prospect. I’m at my best when my opposition is better. So I like it. And I boxed abroad before, I love it when I am the outsider,” added Petitjean.
