Actor warns viewers of Channel 4's 'difficult to watch' Nazi disability show

  • Actor Ellie Wallwock has described her role in Channel 4's controversial documentary The Experiment as one of the “most difficult” of her career, warning viewers that it is a hard-hitting but important watch.
  • Hosted by actor Mat Fraser and disability rights activist Sophie Morgan, the show explores whether modern society could be persuaded by repackaged Nazi eugenicist rhetoric presented as progressive care solutions.
  • Members of the public were tricked into touring a fake residential facility named SegriLife House, unaware that its policies for disabled and neurodivergent residents were drawn from 1930s and 1940s Nazi Germany.
  • Ellie Wallwock, who is blind and plays one of the facility's residents, highlighted the emotional weight of the project and emphasised the crucial importance of telling disabled stories.
  • The documentary drew mixed critical responses, with a two-star review in The Independent describing it as too manipulative and convoluted to be truly impactful, despite noting its thought-provoking intentions.
