Actor Damian Lewis is set to kick off a tour performing his debut album at The Sage Gateshead.
Best known for his roles as Army Major in the HBO series Band of Brothers and as Nicholas Brody in Homeland, 52-year-old Lewis busked through continental Europe with his guitar upon leaving school. However, when he returned to the UK, his acting career took off.
He came back to making music during lockdown and his debut album Mission Creep will be released on June 16. His first performance was at Wilderness Festival last year, and it has since been followed by glowing reviews from crowds and critics.

The Sage Gateshead is one of eight "iconic" venues that Lewis will play on his UK tour, with the North East gig the first. The show takes place on Friday September 8 and tickets go on sale on Friday June 16.
Reflecting on his debut album following the release of his debut single Down On The Bowery in April, said: "I suddenly had a lot to say. People will judge if it’s any good or not, but for me, it felt entirely natural."
He added: "I wanted the album to give a sense of a journey to this point, from busking ‘til now."
