Call of Duty Warzone 2 DMZ mode launches with Warzone 2 on Nov. 16, 2022, and Activision at last teased something of what to expect from the narrative-driven mode in a new Warzone 2 season one preview. DMZ is an extraction mode where the main goal is you and your squad traveling across the map towards an extraction point, but the main goal is only a small fraction of what DMZ entails.
You’ll encounter side objectives and the opportunity to take on faction missions. Enemy AI and human-controlled operators stand in your way, and there’s no shortage of loot to uncover across the vast map of Al Mazrah.
Those currently playing Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer maps have already experienced portions of the first Warzone 2 map. Activision said Taraq, Sariff Bay, the Embassy, and a few other maps are all just pieces of the larger Al Mazrah layout. Expect even more details about DMZ before Warzone 2’s launch.
Elsewhere in the preview, Activision said Warzone 2 will include a set of third-person playlists for the first time, and the battle pass is getting a slight shake-up. Instead of linear tiers, you unlock sectors, with each sector containing at least five items. You can spend tokens to unlock new items in that sector or open adjacent sectors if nothing in the others takes your fancy.
Two new weapons, the Victus XMR sniper rifle and the BAS-P SMG from Modern Warfare 2‘s gun selection will show up at launch in the battle pass for free as well.
