Acting Like You Can't See Anything: John Leguizamo's Role Preparation in The Odyssey Shows the Challenges of Blindness

Actor John Leguizamo has shared how portraying a blind man in Christopher Nolan's latest film, The Odyssey, became one of the most life-changing experiences of his career. Speaking about the role, Leguizamo revealed that the special contact lenses he wore for filming left him unable to see, requiring him to rely on crew members to move around the set.

He recalled that he even needed someone to escort him to the bathroom because he could not navigate on his own while wearing the lenses. The experience, he said, gave him a deeper understanding of the challenges people with blindness and severe visual impairment may encounter in their daily lives.
