A woman in her 80s has died from COVID-19 in the ACT, as the national capital reported a one-day record for cases.

The woman died at a residential aged care facility in Canberra, bringing the ACT's pandemic death toll to 20.

On Tuesday, there were 1860 new cases reported, with 976 of those being from PCR tests while 884 were detected on rapid antigen tests.

The number of patients in hospital has also reached a record of 63.

Six of those are in intensive care, up from four the previous day, while there are two on ventilation.

The number of hospitalisations has more than doubled since Friday, when there were 27 patients.

There are 3585 active cases in the ACT.

The latest vaccination figures have also revealed more than 30 per cent of children aged between five and 11-years-old have received their first dose since the rollout for that age bracket began last week.

Nearly one-in-three Canberrans 18 and over have received their booster shot, with 31.8 per cent having had a third dose.
