C.T. Aravinda Kumar, environmental scientist and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, has been appointed as the chairman of the advisory committee on Antarctic Environmental Impact Assessment Study and Antarctic Environmental Governance.
The committee, constituted by the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Researches (NCPOR) under the Government of India, has been entrusted to advise on the future course of action on approved projects for Antarctica, formulating strategic planning referring to Polar Governance, procurement and deployment of requisite instruments etc., among other things. Anoop Kumar Tiwari, a scientist with NCPOR , is the member secretary of the committee.
