A woman who allegedly stabbed two strangers taking a group photo outside a bar will spend the weekend in custody after she refused to leave her cell to appear in court.
Rachel Ellem, 30, was due to face Parramatta Local Court on Friday on charges of wounding the men with intent to murder.
She was arrested on Wednesday after emergency services were called to a venue in Parramatta, in Sydney's west, about 9.40pm.
Two men, aged 52 and 58, were found with stab wounds to their necks, upper torso and arms.
Police said the men were taking a group photo with friends when Ellem, who they did not know, approached.
When security asked her to leave, she allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the pair.
Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Ellem was arrested and taken to the same hospital for treatment.
She was later escorted to Merrylands police station and charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.
In court on Friday, corrective services officers advised the woman was refusing to leave her cell for the court hearing and would need to be forcibly removed.
But magistrate Derek Price said that was unnecessary and adjourned the case after refusing Ellem bail.
She is due to return to court on Monday.
