A staffing crisis at high security state hospital Carstairs in Lanarkshire meant a librarian was forced to cover a shift on a ward.
Whistleblowers claim the failure to attract new staff to the hospital is putting current staff and patients at risk and said "it's an accident waiting to happen."
Untrained dieticians, psychologists and occupational therapists are said to have been called upon to help out with ward deficits as recruitment shortages plunges the facility into a dangerous staffing problem.
