The quarantine period going back two years brought the energy world digital reliance. As over 70% of world citizens worked, learned, healed, entertained and shopped from home, electricity consumption increased and massive greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint was generated on Earth.
Mega trends in the next decade are poised to entail repetitive consumption patterns, particularly in the health sector and home living technology enhanced with 5G development due to the growth of aging society in Thailand and educational development for underprivileged students in rural areas.
“Robots are the most crucial game-changer for the post-Covid era,” said Mr Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairman of the Executive Committee, True Corporation PLC. “Robust technology competition has forged ways for the industry with innovative robotic development and True Corporation is among the tech companies launching True Robotics under its own research and development centre.”
The 5G-enabled facilities testify to reduced traffic congestion, improved route planning for shorter distances, and enhanced cultivation of fossil fuel consumption while creating new business models and new businesses.
True Robotics is established with the purpose of promoting Thailand’s scientific development involving robots, in particular, service robots. Designed to enhance Thai’s lifestyles, True Robotics is a collaborative initiative with international robot entities adhering to the UN’s SDG Good Health & Well Being and SDG Quality Education initiatives.
“True has launched ‘Temi’, a robot that reduces close contact between medical professionals and patients which is now distributed to seven hospitals, two shopping malls, two government agencies, 14 True Service Centres, and 20 universities. In addition, CONNEXT ED is launched as part of the robotic teacher assistant helping underprivileged students learn from native teachers. The programme is also designed to provide robotics courses in over 1,000 schools nationwide.”
While 5G development is recognised as an industry-driven move to reduce GHG footprints, the technology requires an over three-fold increase in electricity consumption compared to the 4G network.
“True Corporation’s challenges lie in achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2030 and proceeding to Net Zero in 2050, alongside business expansion worldwide. The current state of renewable technology development remains constrained and resolving the issues in time will be costly.”
Since 2015, True has embarked on an environmental journey with initiatives mitigating impacts as a result of climate change. Inspired by the internal corporate campaign, We Grow Application is developed to record numbers of trees being planted around Thailand and calculate the absorbed CO2.
“We have already achieved GHG Intensity reduction which was set to be reduced by 10% within 2020, starting from the 2016 base timeline. The next target is to reach Carbon Neutral by 2030 and move forward to Net Zero following Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi) by 2050.”
True Corporation Roadmap aims to drive GHG emissions forward enhanced with innovation and Circular Economy such as solar cell establishment at signal base stations. Over 3,481 solar panels installed generate clean energy and have already reduced GHG by 12,500 tCO2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent).
Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) is another strategic move for the organisation to make decisions on project proposals for further investments weighted by low carbon emission rate and effectiveness to catalyse changes.
In responding to increasing electricity consumption, as Thailand’s leading digital solution enterprise, True Smart Living is launched to lay out a blueprint for home owners to live with ease while saving costs and protecting the world from climate change impacts.
IoT (Internet of Things) is the key-driver for smart homes connecting internet networks with electric appliances via voice or mobile application control. Such technology enables energy-sensor temperature control and lighting switching on and off. These certainly increase energy-efficiency and lower expenses for home owners.
“As energy consumption trends are moving upward, True Corporation is actively progressing solutions for the new economic ecosystem. The collaboration with B. Grimm Power is our attempt to promote digital innovation among industries alongside environment protection and renewable energy development,” concluded True Corporation PLC’s Chairman of the Executive Committee.
