Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek is edging closer to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer with AC Milan in talks to sign the midfielder. The 27-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his current deal with the Blues and could be one of the many players to be sold ahead of next season.
football.london reported in April that AC Milan had made contact with Chelsea over a potential summer move for Loftus-Cheek. There have been no official talks to renew his deal leading to speculation that he could leave the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Loftus-Cheek made his breakthrough into the senior team back in 2015 before enjoying loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham. The 27-year-old had only completed 90 minutes on eight occasions this term and finds himself playing a rotation role within the team.

Loftus-Cheek, who is valued at around £22million on football database website Transfermarkt, has often being used as a right wing-back to cover Reece James who has once again struggled with injuries this term. Malo Gusto is set to complete a move from Lyon to Stamford Bridge this summer after agreeing a deal to join Chelsea in January, returning to the French outfit on loan until the end of the season.
Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to add a new central midfielder to the squad this summer and this could see Loftus-Cheek fall further down the pecking order. According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are prioritising a move for the Chelsea star as they aim to rebuild their midfield.
Romano added that Loftus-Cheek is keen on the move and could reunite with ex-Chelsea players Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori at the San Siro. It remains to be seen what sort of fee the Blues could receive to sell the 27-year-old, but his exit would signal the start of Todd Boehly's plans to trim down the bloated squad at Stamford Bridge.
