Stefano Pioli has confirmed that Sandro Tonali chose to join Newcastle United as the AC Milan boss spoke about the midfielder's departure for the first time.
Tonali completed his £55m move to St James' Park last week and has signed an initial five-year deal with the club. Tonali, in the process, has left his homeland for the first time but Roberto La Florio, who was his first agent, previously told ChronicleLive that the Italy international has 'always been very fascinated and, above all, attracted by the Premier League.'
However, some AC Milan fans have claimed that Tonali was forced to leave his boyhood club against his will despite players having more power than ever these days when deciding their next move. A number of Milanistas have even obsessed over Tonali's expression in some of his unveiling photographs and during footage of the new arrival being shown around Newcastle's training ground yet it is worth noting that this calm figure looked no different, say, when he was posing with the Scudetto trophy in 2022.
