Abused woman whose husband 'locked her in truck' films chilling final video before death

A woman whose domestic torture was filmed and shared by her monstrous husband was pushed to taking her own life after eight years of horrific abuse.

Mandeep Kaur, 30, a Sikh woman from Uttar Pradesh in India, had settled in New York where she lived with her cruel partner and two young daughters, aged four and six.

She was regularly beaten by her husband and on one occasion locked in a truck container for five days, according to her heartbroken dad Jaspal Singh - who is taking legal action against his in-laws.

He claims his daughter was forced to "relieve herself in the container" before her abuser forwarded videos of her cleaning up her own waste to her sister.

In a now-viral video Mandeep sobs uncontrollably as she says: "It has been eight years. I have tried my best. I was beaten up every day for no reason…I thought he would improve someday.

"But no, he beat me up for eight years and had extra-marital affairs.

"We lived there [in India] for the first two and a half years, and it was hell."

Jaspal contacted police about the extreme abuse his daughter was being subjected to, but Mandeep managed to change his mind after the husband begged her to "save" him.

She ends the video, which is now being shared on Twitter, with a chilling note as she says: "You all ganged up and left me helpless. I have to leave my kids and go now."

Tragically, she was found dead in New York after a suspected suicide on August 3.

Another video reportedly shared first on social media shows the young woman being beaten by her husband.

Her 60-year-old old dad said his daughter's marriage - which started eight years ago - was punctuated by "pain, torture and trauma" and she was "hopeless" and alone during her final moments.

“There was no one by her side when she breathed her last. The level of helplessness, which we are facing, is hard to define. I don’t want others to go through the same circumstances, hence we have taken action against the husband’s family for dowry death,” he said.

Recalling how the horrors of the last eight years started, he said: "In 2014, my daughter married that man, thinking it to be the best-suited match. He was a truck driver in New York.

“Soon after the marriage, in-laws started demanding dowry.

"They often asked my daughter for ₹25 lakh (£26,000) cash and a luxury car. When she refused, they used to torture her and convey their demand to us."

Dowry deaths are tragically all-too-common in India, and are defined by the death of a young women who is killed or driven to suicide by her new husband after a continuous attempt to extract more money from a dowry.

After their marriage in 2014, the pair remained in Uttar Pradesh for two years until after the birth of their first daughter.

The father believed the abuse would ease off due to her pregnancy but that it actually spiked.

The couple then moved to New York where the torture turned more vicious and eventually fatal. It was in the US state where the woman was locked inside the freight container for five days.

Other family members said the situation improved for a short time after they complained to the New York Police Department, but quickly returned to normal before the dad sought the assistance of the Indian government, according to the Hindustan Times.

According to Indian media outlets, the husband is in custody and there are warrants out for the arrest of his mother and brother, who remain at large.
