Manchester United made the worst possible start to Sunday afternoon's visit to Villa Park to face Aston Villa, finding themselves 2-0 down within the opening 11 minutes.
Villa, fuelled with fresh optimism and belief following the arrival of new head coach Unai Emery, got their noses in front with just seven minutes on the clock through winger Leon Bailey before Lucas Digne bent home a free-kick four minutes later. United were like a rabbit in the headlights in the opening exchanges and were powerless to stop Villa racing into a two-goal lead.
Villa, as expected, came flying out of the traps, attempting to impress new boss Emery from the off, but United failed to cover themselves in any sense of glory. They were slow from the off and looked rattled by the occasion marking Emery's arrival.
