Residents living in a Nottinghamshire village which has been named as one of the country's poshest have said life there is "absolute bliss". In the 'best country life guide' listing published by the Telegraph and researched by Savills, the publication listed Colston Bassett as one of Britain's top 54 'smartest rural locations'.
It earned its place on the list due to a number of factors, with food and the local pub being among the draws listed. The Telegraph pointed to the areas' award winning Martin's Arms pub, a local spa and "the king of blue cheese" as reasons for including the Nottinghamshire village on their list.
Chris Deanshaw, 48, was out walking his dog with his wife Anna. He said: "We come to a lot of the villages around here, I think it's a great part of Nottinghamshire. You feel quite away from everything else, it's a pretty small place and it's always quite quiet. There are lots of fields and green spaces as well which means the dog loves it."

Anna added: "It's a lovely pub as well, we sometimes stop there to have a drink. I could definitely see myself living somewhere like Colston Bassett someday."
One Colston Bassett resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Nottinghamshire Live: "For me, it's absolute bliss here. Your neighbours are lovely, it's very tucked away, but it doesn't take you long to get to the A46 and so driving elsewhere isn't a nightmare.
"I think smaller villages like this are always going to be seen as a little posher. It comes with the territory. I don't thin we're especially posh but it doesn't bother me that we're included in these kinds of lists. I personally wouldn't want to move anywhere else, at least for the timebeing."
Anna White, who wrote the article, said: "Colston Bassett Stilton – arguably the king of British blue cheese – hails from this village near the Vale of Belvoir.
"It is foodie country with the award-winning pub the Martin’s Arms in the village, a short drive to Perkins Bar & Bistro and England cricketer Stuart Broad’s pub Tap & Run. There’s even a local spa called The Little Day Retreat."
The listing also stated that the average house price in Colston Bassett is around £786,955.
