Abortion rights advocates are actively working on ballot initiatives in more than a dozen states this November to either restore, protect, or block access to abortion. The landscape has become more complex since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, with varying state laws, Republican efforts to prevent abortion-related ballots, and internal disagreements within the movement.
Florida, for instance, saw its conservative Supreme Court approve the wording of a proposed amendment to enshrine abortion access in the state constitution, despite challenges from the Republican attorney general. Other states like Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Montana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, and South Dakota are also in the process of advancing initiatives to restore or expand abortion access.
