Footage of a hunt digging out a fox from a den before throwing it to a pack of hounds has been met with outrage by animals rights groups. The video clip, shared widely on social media, appears to show members of the Wiltshire-based Avon Vale Hunt using a terrier to push out the fox before it is grabbed by the scruff of the neck.
The mammal is then thrown to the dogs. Another fox then bolts out of the den and other hounds from the pack chase it across a field while shrieks of laughter are heard from others on the hunt.
The footage, which was reportedly taken recently, has been widely condemned. TV presenter and naturalist Chris Packham said: "This must end. It’s an abominable anachronism."
