Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski to sign four year deal at Champions League club

Aberdeen have finalised a £6.8 million transfer agreement to sell Bojan Miovski to Girona, marking a significant move for the North Macedonian international.

Miovski's representatives successfully negotiated a four-year contract with the La Liga club, enhancing his prospects in one of Europe’s top leagues whilst providing him the opportunity to compete in the UEFA Champions League.

Following the completion of the agreement between the two club's, Miovski has received clearance to travel to Spain on Wednesday morning, where he will undergo a medical examination as part of the final steps of the transfer process.

This deal, which will see the Pittodrie side bank around £4.26million up front with the potential for a further £2.5m in add-ons as well as a portion of any future sell-on fee, represents a substantial financial gain for Aberdeen, as Miovski was originally acquired by the Dons for just £600,000 from Hungarian outfit MTK Budapest two years ago.

During his time at Aberdeen, Miovski emerged as a key player, showcasing his scoring ability and contributing significantly to the team's attacking efforts. The 25-year-old netted 44 times from 98 outings, including important strikes in the UEFA Conference League and domestic cup competitions.

His move to Girona not only highlights his growth as a player but also underscores the strategic acumen of Aberdeen's management in identifying and developing talent.

The feeling is also mutual between the Dons supporters and the prolific goalscorer after thousands stayed behind following the 3-1 Scottish Premiership victory over St Mirren on Sunday to pay an emotional farewell to the Aberdeen talisman.

Miovski's good friend and well-known barber to many of Jimmy Thelin's squad, Tam Pompador, praised the striker for earning his dream move whilst revealing more details around the transfer.

Writing on Instagram, he said: "Excited to see my close friend embark on the next step of his journey in joining Girona in one of the best leagues in the world...La Liga.

"Your dream of Champions League football has come true as you sign a four-year deal.

"Your Scotland experience has now ended, the highs and lows experienced and of course, the undying love of the Aberdeen fans, which you will be internally always grateful of.

"As one door closes, another one opens but the desire and want to succeed to become the best you can, this time in Spain."

Girona, who are owned by the City Football Group, fended off interest from Genoa and Southampton for Miovski's services and it remains to be seen if the deal will be finalised in time for him to feature against Real Betis on Thursday evening or if he will have to wait until they visit Atletico Madrid on August 25 to make his debut.
