Aberdeen on the brink of capturing Senegalese striker Pape Habib Gueye

Aberdeen are on the brink of capturing Senegalese striker Pape Habib Gueye after applying for a work visa for him.

Barry Robson has already swooped for Irish midfielder Jamie McGrath and Finnish international defender Richard Jensen this week with the ex-Dundee United and St Mirren star coming off the bench to make an impressive debut in the Europa League play-off first leg against BK Hacken where the Dons battled back for a 2-2 draw.

And they are on the brink of completing their 12th signing of the summer by snapping up Gueye.

The Pittodrie side have agreed a six-figure sum with Belgian First Division club KV Kortrijk for the 23-year-old.

Gueye has a year remaining on his contract with the Belgian Pro League side, but has found first-team action limited recently.

He was part of the Senegalese squad that reached the 2017 African Under 20s Cup of Nations final, finishing runners-up.

And he's set to challenge Bojan Miovski, Duk and Ester Sokler for a striking berth.
