Sean Goss says Motherwell have nothing to fear going up to Aberdeen, and can take three points if everyone is on their game.
The 26-year-old midfielder knows Aberdeen have built almost an entirely new team up at Pittodrie, but says results against them have gone Motherwell's way in the past.
Motherwell bagged two 2-0 wins and a 1-1 draw against Jim Goodwin's men last season, plus a 2-1 Scottish Cup win at Fir Park.
And Goss says getting a win in the Granite City again might make people sit up and notice what they're trying to do at Fir Park under new boss Stevie Hammell.
He said: "They've got a different team from last year. I think it will be a different game, but it's one of the teams we definitely fancy ourselves against.
"We've got nothing to fear, going up there. If everyone pulls together and plays the way we can, I don't see why we can't get a result.
"We know the way we can play when everyone's on it, and I think we showed that before up there.
"With the prep we've done, we know where we can hurt them as well."
Motherwell go into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to St Johnstone on Saturday, but Goss reckons there were still flashes in that game that they can be positive about.
He said: "I think we have something to prove. I think we showed at times last week what we can be capable of.
"It was obviously frustrating with the late goal, but I think that showed a bit as well that we weren't happy with the draw, that we wanted to go for the win, though it ended up costing us.
"But we want Stevie to get off to the best possible start. We wanted to do that when he came in and took over anyway, but now he's full-time first-team manager, we're going to work as hard as we can for him, and hopefully get the result.
"It's good to get the win and get some confidence. It was a good start to the season, other than the European game, and you want to start the league season with a win.
"It was a frustrating one last week, but if we can get a result this week maybe everyone will look at us a bit differently."
Goss says the players are happy with Hammell being appointed manager on a two-year deal, and says his attacking style of play will suit him.
The former Manchester United and Rangers star said: "The appointment has gone down really well. He's seen us now for a couple of weeks, knows what all the players are about and knows the team well, so I think he will be really good, going forward.
"He knows the squad already, he knows where he can help us and what we need. I think it will suit the players really well.
"He has been really good, training has been good. It has been a bit different, it has been tough. All the lads are really enjoying it, and what he can offer us in the future.
"It's going to take time, helping individuals, and it has more been focusing on what we can do at the weekends to hurt teams at the moment.
"It has been a lot of short, sharp stuff, lots of touches on the ball, possession-based in the games, just to get the boys going again and hopefully get a bit more confidence in the side.
"You want to be training the way you want to play on the weekend. I think we've been doing that.
"For us, it's about working hard, putting in the performances and doing as well as we can for the new manager."
