The ABC executive who dismissed journalist Antoinette Lattouf says he was "between a rock and a hard place" as pressure mounted from bosses including then-chair Ita Buttrose.

The broadcaster's outgoing content chief, Chris Oliver-Taylor, also distanced himself from comments by Buttrose, who called for Lattouf's removal after she shared posts about Israel's war in Gaza.
