ABC News anchor Kyra Phillips says she was jumped by a “half-dressed” homeless man in downtown Washington, D.C., recounting the story on air as President Donald Trump vows to crack down on violent crime and homelessness in the capital.

Phillips noted that many DC residents are witnessing the violence Trump has rallied against “firsthand” — despite statistics showing crime in the District has been on the decline.
