ABBA legend Bjorn Ulvaeus has found a new love to take a chance on him.
The star, 77, who announced the end of his 41-year marriage only months ago, showed off his new flame on Tuesday.
He and product manager Christina Sas, 49, were at the premiere of his new musical.
Bjorn has adapted a story from Sweden’s popular children’s book series Pippi Longstocking to create Pippi at the Circus.
He said: “This is my partner Christina. We’ve been dating for a while and I felt I wanted to take her to this event. So this is the first time we kind of go out together.”
When asked how long they had been seeing each other, Bjorn told a Swedish journalist: “We have been dating for a short time.”
Christina, who was wearing a necklace which says Bjorn, works for Universal Music Group which recently released ABBA’s recent album Voyage.
In February, Bjorn and his wife Lena Kallersjo, who have two children, announced their split.
In a joint statement, they said: “After many fine and eventful years, we have decided to divorce. We remain close and good friends and will continue to celebrate our grandchildren’s birthdays and other family celebrations together.”
They had met at a New Year’s party at the home of bandmates Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and began dating soon after Bjorn split from ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog.
Bjorn and Agnetha had married in 1971 before the band became famous. When the marriage ended, Agnetha was said to have needed counselling. She had struggled spending so much time away from their children, Linda and Peter, while ABBA toured.
Their break-up inspired soul-searching lyrics, such as on The Winner Takes It All. Bjorn wrote: “But tell me, does she kiss/ Like I used to kiss you?/Does it feel the same/When she calls your name?”
Bjorn said of Lena: “We really fell in love like lightning. So strange that you’re a bachelor for a week then fall there right away.”
Benny and Anni-Frid divorced in 1981. ABBA broke up in 1982 but made a comeback last year with new music and their ABBA-tar concert, which earned five-star reviews, including in the Mirror.
