An abandoned Edinburgh New Town grocers is set to become a new wraps and kebab takeaway.
The unit, at 50 Broughton Street, has lain empty for some time although it does benefit from existing hot food takeaway consent, making a change of use easier to accommodate.
The applicant has submitted a planning application which would see the building transformed into a takeaway named 'Marko's' with a floorplan showing enough room on the ground floor for a small seating area.

Following an application which was thrown out to transform the premises from Shamoon's Grocers to different takeaway, an appeal was submitted by the owner in 2018 which was successful.
The newspaper advertisements on the external façade of the building originate from the previous grocers, although it is understood these would be removed or painted over when the new takeaway opens.
The unit is also advertised on Shepherd Commercial as a hot food takeaway, with the location playing into any owner's hands being just minutes from the city centre and dozens of other amenities.
You can view the plans on the council's planning portal here.
