An empty Edinburgh city centre retail unit could become a new speciality coffee shop after new plans were submitted to the council.
The vacant unit, at 56 Shandwick Place, was formerly a Pret A Manger and Gloria Jeans coffee shop. Now, Black Sheep Coffee, who already have two un-opened locations in the city, have registered an interest.
The popular London-based company are set to add to the two recently-announced stores on Princes Street, but despite plans for both locations being validated over a year ago, neither have opened their doors to the public yet.

However, this week new proposals to take over the store on Shandwick Place were handed over to the council's planning team for evaluation. If successful, it would be the company's fifth location in the capital.
As well as selling speciality coffee, one the chain's store at St James Quarter also sell cocktails and other alcoholic drinks.
On the company's site they say: “Serving the world’s first speciality grade Robusta Beans on the market, we are innovators in the coffee industry. With cafes, kiosks, and cocktail bars across the globe, come soak in the vibe and enjoy a perfect cup."
The brand is becoming increasingly popular in recent years, with coffee shops and cocktail bars across the UK, France and Philippines.
It is unclear whether or not the new store on Shandwick Place will delve into the world of cocktails and alcoholic beverages, but both Princes Street locations are not understood to include any hot food production for either eat-in or takeaway.
Re-heating baked goods and toasting of sandwiches, like most coffee shops, is a staple of Black Sheep's menu as the company say most of their sales are generated from takeaway orders.
