Motorists were forced to swerve an abandoned boat after it was left blocking part of one of Scotland's busiest bridges. Emergency services were called to reports of an aquatic vehicle blocking part of the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow at around 12.44 pm.
Road traffic officers closed one lane of the motorway while the boat was recovered. They have since confirmed that the road has fully re-opened.
Authorities believe that the owner of the boat and trailer may have forgotten to attach a breakaway cable. Road Policing Scotland wrote in a statement on social media: "Please make sure your trailer is secure before starting your journey and attach the breakaway cable. This boat nearly made it to the Clyde - but it ended up blocking a live lane on the Kingston Bridge, Glasgow and required the assistance of Glasgow Road Policing."
A Traffic Scotland representative said: “Lane one blocked Westbound on the Kingston Bridge due to an abandoned boat. A slight build up on the approach. All lanes now running Westbound on the Kingston Bridge following the removal of an abandoned boat.”
Police Scotland confirmed that a boat had come off its trailer.
