Minister for Dairy Development S.M. Nasar on Wednesday announced that Aavin will soon introduce 10 new products, including cheddar cheese, jackfruit ice cream, basundhi, baked yoghurt, white chocolate and cold coffee.
Speaking during the Assembly debate on the demand for grants for the Dairy Development Department, he said these products had been chosen based on feedback from consumers, market research and trends in other cooperatives in the country. They would be produced at the Ambattur dairy, the Madurai ice cream plant and the Tiruvannamalai plant. Sources in Aavin said preliminary feasibility studies had been done, and details like costing and quantity of milk required for these products would be worked out shortly.
Mr. Nasar said TNCMPF will also honour its long-time consumers and dealers. An amount of ₹10 lakh had been set aside for this purpose. “As an organisation, we have been able to serve farmers due to the unswerving support of our consumers. Hence, we would like to honour and recognise them,” he said.
Mr. Nasar also announced that three farmers would be chosen in every union and honoured. Incentives of ₹10,000, ₹5,000 and ₹3,000 would be given, he said.
