Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been told that there is a “bonus” for him should he leave Manchester United this summer following rumours that he has been placed on the transfer list.
The defender signed from Crystal Palace in a £50million deal in June 2019 as one of England ’s hottest young prospects but he has struggled to cement his spot as United’s number one right-back, with injuries and inconsistent form playing their part.
But ahead of a potential departure from the Red Devils at the end of the season, former United full back Paul Parker believes that Wan-Bissaka should not take it as a “negative” and his time at the club can only benefit him in his next venture.
Speaking to BonusCodeBets , Parker said: “If it is that way, it’s a shame. But the bonus for him is that he has been there and he has done it, so experience-wise, he’ll be a better person after being there, as long as he keeps his head right, and not take it as a negative. Because the negative could have been if he had turned it down, saying he was content playing for Crystal Palace.”
After making his breakthrough for the Eagles with seven Premier League appearances in the 2017-18 season, the 24-year-old then became a regular in the side and totalled a further 39 appearances in all competitions the following season at Selhurst Park.
The impressive campaign prompted United to splash £50m on him to make him the sixth-most expensive defender of all time, with the right-back signing a five-year contract, as Wan-Bissaka became the club’s primary player in that position ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Wan-Bissaka racked up 46 appearances across all competitions that season, before recording another 54 during 2020-21, which saw him score his first two goals for the club, although things haven’t quite gone to plan for the England international this campaign.
Injuries have hampered his progress, while the return of Diogo Dalot has forced Wan-Bissaka out of the side, which has now led to rumours of him being transfer-listed.
But Parker believes that Wan-Bissaka has played during an “unstable time” at the club, which has limited his ability to make a real impact in order to live up to his hefty price tag.
He said: “What the likes of Crystal Palace, then under Roy Hodgson, wanted from a full-back, compared to Manchester United were different.
“In that sense, Manchester United took him on as a defender. They like what he did defending, and then they tried to throw him into another role as full-back and he isn't equipped to do that.
“It’s just a shame that his tenure at Manchester United has been in a very, very unstable time for him. So he hasn’t been able to build any confidence or pattern of play and just get close to anything like a structure in his game, playing with someone in front of him on a regular basis.”
