Aaron Rodgers’s Jets Teammates Call Out NFL Over Turf Concerns

The entire NFL world—the JetsPackers and beyond—seems in a daze in the aftermath of New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly tearing his Achilles mere snaps into the next chapter of his career.

However, some of Rodgers's Jets teammates intend to do something about the issue.

After New York’s 22–16 overtime win Monday evening, multiple Jets denounced MetLife Stadium’s FieldTurf playing surface and called for the installation of natural grass.

“We wanted the NFL to protect the players with grass fields, but the NFL is more worried about making money,” wide receiver Randall Cobb—an on-and-off teammate of Rodgers since 2011—said according to The Athletic. “Profit over people, it’s always been the case. I’ve never been a fan of turf. That’s my stance.”

New York running back Breece Hall expressed similar sentiments.

“Grass. That’s my answer. We want grass,” he said.

Packers tackle David Bakhtiari, another longtime Rodgers teammate, voiced support for grass surfaces shortly after the injury. Jets cornerback D.J. Reed continued the chorus Tuesday morning.

“We need real grass for all our stadiums,” Reed posted on social media.
