Aaron Rodgers Breaks Silence After Achilles Injury: ‘I Shall Rise Yet Again’

For the first time since tearing his Achilles vs. the Bills on Monday, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has spoken.

The veteran posted a message on Instagram Wednesday, thanking everyone for reaching out and saying that he was “heartbroken” by what happened. Then, before saying he was proud of the Jets for winning their season-opener, Rodgers wrote a message implying that he will be back.

“The night is darkest before the dawn,” he wrote. “And I shall rise yet again.”

The Jets put Rodgers on injured reserve on Tuesday, ending his 2023 season. However, he is still under contract beyond this year if he chooses to continue playing.

If Rodgers does return to the NFL next season, he will be 40 years old when Week 1 arrives. Before the season, the veteran committed to wanting to play multiple more seasons with the Jets beyond just this year.

With Rodgers out, Zach Wilson takes over as New York’s starting quarterback for the rest of the season as the Jets have not yet decided to add another signal-caller.
