Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has explained the incident at the end of his side's 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the North London Derby. The Gunners shot-stopper was involved in an alteration with a Spurs supporter at the South stand of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Footage showed the 24-year-old winding up supporters of the Gunners' local rivals after referee Craig Pawson ended proceedings in north London. Mikel Arteta's side stretched their lead to eight points at the top of the Premier League thanks to Martin Odegaard's strike and a Huge Lloris howler.
Sky Sports cameras caught the incident, in which Ramsdale is seen kissing the Arsenal crest on his shirt in-front of the South stand. Richarlison was quick to have words with the goalkeeper before Ramsdale approached the goal to collect his towel and water bottle.

However, despite the presence of a steward on the field, a Spurs supporter approaches the pitch perimeter and attempts to kick the goalkeeper whilst his back is turned - causing frustration amongst the Arsenal players. Arteta was quick to dissolve his side's involvement in the critic and dragged Ramsdale and Granit Xhaka over the vocal away following.
After the game, Ramsdale was quizzed on the incident by Sky Sports and the England international explained his side of things. "The Spurs fans were giving me some throughout the second half and I gave them some back which, to the few people that I did do it too, was well greeted," he said.
"Then a fan tried to jump over and give me a kick in the back. That's what happened and it's a shame because it's just a game of football at the end of the day.
"Both sets of players tried bringing me away. Thankfully nothing actually happened too drastically, but it's a sour taste. But I'm sure we'll enjoy it when we go back in"
Spurs defender Eric Dier also discussed the incident in his post-match interview. "No of course not (want to see it)," Dier added. "It's unacceptable really. There's nothing more I can say. It shouldn't have happened".
