Aaron Pierre Exits Marvel's 'Blade' Film, New Projects In Works

Blade-FanArt

Aaron Pierre has announced that he is no longer attached to Marvel's upcoming 'Blade' film. The actor shared this news during the 55th NAACP Image Awards red carpet event. Pierre mentioned that there were initial discussions about his involvement in the project, but as it progressed, he is no longer part of it.

Pierre was set to star alongside Mahershala Ali, who is portraying the vampire hunter character originally played by Wesley Snipes. While Pierre's specific role in the film was not disclosed, reports indicated that he was selected after an extensive casting process. Marvel has officially confirmed Ali's casting as the titular vampire slayer.

The 'Blade' film has faced challenges during its development, with several changes in directors and writers. Bassam Tariq was initially set to direct, with Stacy Osei-Kuffour as the screenwriter, but both eventually departed from the project. Yann Demange took over as the director, and Michael Green was brought on as the new screenwriter. The movie has seen at least five different writers attached to it.

Despite the setbacks, Ali expressed optimism about the project's direction, stating that he is encouraged by the team involved in the scriptwriting and directing. He mentioned that they will resume work on the film soon.

Following his exit from 'Blade,' Pierre shared his excitement about other upcoming projects. He mentioned his involvement in 'Rebel Ridge' with Jeremy Saulnier and the upcoming 'The Lion King' prequel directed by Barry Jenkins. Pierre expressed enthusiasm for these projects and looks forward to sharing them with audiences.
