Aaron Murray has Georgia suprisingly low in his top 10

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray released his top 10 after Week 7’s action, and Georgia is not as high on the list as you’d think.

His top 10 consists of just three SEC teams, not including Alabama or Tennessee. It also consists of three Big Ten teams, all of them in the top five, along with two ACC teams and two Big 12 teams.

Some Georgia fans may be a little bit surprised to see Georgia ranked No. 6 in Aaron Murray’s top 10. Georgia has a strong win over Clemson and a respectable loss to Alabama.

Despite the Miami Hurricanes and the Penn State Nittany Lions both being undefeated, they’ve had some luck to get there. Miami’s last two games in conference play have involved massive comebacks, but that could be signs of inconsistent play. Penn State survived a close game against Bowling Green and needed a missed field goal to pull through against USC.

Then again, there are some that consider the criticism warranted. Georgia has only a +16.3 average point differential despite being 5-1. They’ve played down to competition on more than a few occasions, such as a 13-12 win vs. Kentucky and this recent 41-31 win over Mississippi State, the latter which showed their massive issues in the secondary. Overall, the Bulldogs have failed to dominate on both sides of the ball like they did in their championship winning seasons years.

With that in mind, here are Aaron Murray’s top 10 college football rankings:

  1. Texas
  2. Oregon
  3. Ohio State
  4. Penn State
  5. Miami
  6. Georgia
  7. Clemson
  8. Iowa State
  9. LSU
  10. BYU
