Aaron Mooy was one of Celtic's spotlight heroes in Australia's impressive World Cup run over the winter months - and that proved pivotal for Tunisia's Issam Jebali who was vying for his shirt at full-time thanks to a Hoops affiliation.
Mooy travelled to the Middle East with the Socceroos contingent as they faced off against Denmark, Tunisia and France in a bid to qualify for the World Cup knockout rounds. A loss against eventual finalists Les Bleus saw them lose 4-1 in the opening fixture, but 1-0 wins in their next two games saw them progress to face eventual winners, Argentina.
The Tunisia fixture saw Australia take the driving seat against the Danes, with Mooy particularly impressing alongside former Hibs talent Jackson Irvine in the middle of the park to register three much-needed points. And to the Sydney-born star, he would've encountered a heartfelt incident at full time when Jebali asked him for his shirt.
The Tunisian star, however, wasn't in it for the name on the back - he was in for Mooy's shirt for a Celtic-supporting family member, with Mooy being a key performer for Ange Postecoglou's side so far this season.
Jebali said to Optus Sport: “One of my wife’s family, he really loves Celtic. The moment we knew we were playing Australia he said, ‘Please, if you play against Australia, if you can change your shirt with Mooy I will be happy’ so I actually did it for him.”
