Aaron Hickey transfer latest as Arsenal 'join race' to sign Scotland rising star

Arsenal are reportedly the latest side to join the long list of clubs interested in signing ex-Hearts defender Aaron Hickey.

The 19-year-old currently plays for Serie A side Bologna.

The Scotland international has impressed since joining the Italian outfit, with his efforts now generating interest from a number clubs.

Hickey made the move to Italy back in 2020 after Hearts sold him to Bologna for £1.5million.

And now big hitters including Napoli, AC Milan, Juventus and Florentina have their eyes on the talented young full back, with Arsenal the latest to join fellow English Premier League clubs Newcastle, Brentford, Liverpool and Aston Villa in the race to sign the defender.

The Gunners are understood to have began negotiations with Rossoblù over the potential transfer, according to Viola News.

But the Serie A side are holding out for bids of around £17million for the left back, reports suggest.

Hickey has made close to 50 appearances for the Serie A side since joining, netting five goals from left wing back this season to make him the club's second top goal scorer.

A move to the Emirates would see the teen link up with fellow Scotsman Kieran Tierney, even providing some competition for the left sided defender's place in Mikel Arteta's squad.

The ex-Hearts player recently revealed that he intended to remain at Bologna beyond this campaign.

But with Arsenal now amongst the clubs interested, a big move may be as tempting as ever.
