Aaron Donald: ‘Kind of happy’ we don’t have to face Aaron Rodgers

The Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers have met in each of the last three years, including one postseason matchup following the 2020 season. They’ve gotten familiar with each other over the years, but one big change has been made to the Packers’ roster: Aaron Rodgers is gone.

Green Bay traded him to the Jets this offseason, handing the keys to Jordan Love. It’s been a struggle through Love’s first seven games this season, which gives the Rams hope against the Packers on Sunday.

Aaron Donald, for one, isn’t mad that the Rams won’t be facing the future Hall of Fame quarterback this weekend. He’s happy to see Rodgers out of Green Bay.

“I’m kind of happy we don’t get to see Aaron Rodgers, so I don’t really care,” he said Thursday. “Obviously, they got the young quarterback back there, so we just got to try to do our job to make our plays. But it feels pretty good not seeing him back there.”

Love has eight interceptions already this season, all of which have come in the last five weeks. He started the year strong with six touchdowns and no picks in the first two games, but it’s been all downhill from there.

The Rams don’t know who their quarterback will be due to Matthew Stafford’s thumb injury, but at least they don’t have to face No. 12.
