Aaron Carter had been "extremely optimistic" about the future prior to his sudden death and was excited about the prospect of releasing a new album.
The singer's manager, Taylor Helgeson, was one of the last people to receive text messages from Aaron, with the messages showing his eagerness to get back to the studio.
34-year-old Aaron was found dead in his Californian home on November 5 by his housekeeper. His cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Taylor had been sent texts from the star about the idea of recording a new album, something which Aaron seemed really excited about.
"He was so excited, he was extremely optimistic. It was a few years since we released Love, and he felt ready to do another one.
"It was the first time in a while that I’ve seen him so excited. He had more [to give], and he didn’t quit," Taylor said in an interview with The Sun.
Aaron's manager said the Sooner Or Later hitmaker had confirmed he was "all good", adding that things were "looking up" for him.
Taylor showed more of their conversation, with Aaron texting: "Holy s****! The new album, what the f***? This is definitely a Grammy!"
Taylor noted the last reply he received from Aaron was when the singer-songwriter said it was going to be their "best work yet".
The text was sent at 6:32pm on the last night Aaron is believed to have been alive.
Later, Taylor missed a call from Aaron due to being on a plane. It is thought Aaron then called a friend and invited them to his home to begin work on the new album.
The friend "never made it to the house", according to Taylor.
Following Aaron's shock death, his brother Nick Carter shared his grief over the news.
Before taking the stage at a Backstreet Boys concert, Nick uploaded a sweet message to his late brother. Uploading a series of pictures with his brother, he wrote: "My heart is broken.
"Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.
"I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
"Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.
"I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth.
"God, Please take care of my baby brother."
