Aaron Carter’s ashes are to be spread with those of his late sister Leslie in Florida Keys in December his mother has revealed.
The former child star was found dead in a bath in his LA home in November, with the cause of his death still being investigated by US police.
Three weeks on from his death, his mother Jane shared details about their plans to remember the late singer and explained that his ashes have been in his twin sister Angel’s possession since he was cremated a week after his death.
Speaking to TMZ, she revealed that his fiancée, Melanie Martin, with whom he had a one-year-old son, Prince, will not be present at the ceremony.
She said that N’SYNC star Lance Bass, a friend of brother Nick’s, offered his LA home for a memorial service but the family has opted against this after receiving death threats.
Jane also shared that she had been texting Carter only a few days before his death, revealing how he asked how the family was doing in Florida.
Carter’s sister Leslie, who starred on the family’s reality TV show titled House of Carters died at the age of 25 following a prescription drug overdose in 2012. The publication reported that her ashes are with her widower Mike.
The late star released four solo albums as a child, his 1997 self-titled debut selling more than one million copies worldwide.
His fame led him to open for his brother’s boyband Backstreet Boys that same year. Three more LPs followed, including Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) – which sold three million units in the US alone in 2000.
His later career included releases of an EP and several compilations as well as an appearance on the US reality show Dancing With the Stars. All the while, his personal life was beset with problems as well as high-profile feuds with members of his family. Carter had a history of drug offences and went to rehab on a number of occasions as his career progressed. He moved from pop into rap music and procured a number of face tattoos as he distanced himself from his child star image.
In later years, his feuds with Nick became more intense – and he reportedly accused his older brother of putting him under a conservatorship scheme, similar to the one Britney Spears famously battled against. His brother would reportedly later take out a restraining order.
