GUNTUR: Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan said the YSR Aarogyasri health scheme has proven to be a boon to the poor and downtrodden. He said Aarogyasri is aimed at achieving universal health coverage for all BPL families and is a pioneering scheme in providing accountable and evidence-based good quality healthcare services.

The governor inaugurated the 'Revision Knee Replacement Block' at Sai Bhaskar Hospitals in the city on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the Aarogyasri scheme has benefitted lakhs of people from economically weaker sections by liberating them from unaffordable medical expenditure.

The governor interacted with patients at the hospital who availed benefit under Aarogyasri, Aarogya Asara and the EHS scheme, and the Aarogya Mitra team who extend help to patients seeking medical treatment under the scheme. He praised services provided by leading knee replacement surgeon Dr Busireddy Narendra Reddy to the poor through Unnathi Foundation by donating implants used in knee replacement surgeries worth 25 lakh free of cost to Government General Hospital (GGH) and for performing surgeries free of cost for beneficiaries.
