A dramatic photograph shows the moment an AA van got stuck in the sand alongside a car it was trying to recover. A group of people were seen desperately trying to free both vehicles from the sand on Porth Beach, in Newquay, at around 10am today (June 19).
Pictures show the recovery driver alongside the group attempting to dig out the AA van from the sand. Seemingly less than a metre away next to it is what appears to be a white Ford C-Max also stuck in the sand, reports Cornwall Live.
One witness, Lisa Hammond, said it took a "good half an hour to 45 minutes" for the group to free both vehicles from the sand. She added that this is not the first time this has happened and said a sign "really needs to be put in place" on the beach.

"It took about eight people to finally push them out of the sand", she explained. "They pushed out the AA van first and then the car.
"It's time for a really big sign to be put in place because I do think a warning is needed as it's happening frequently. It's the second AA truck that's got stuck in the past month and the last one needed a tow truck to get it out."
In just one year more than a dozen cars were rescued from Great Western Beach in Newquay, which led to Cornwall Council looking at installing 'dead end' signs on the road leading to the sands.
